I love words.
I always have.
I've always been fascinated by communication. Reading and writing have been passions of mine for longer than I care to remember. I still get excited when I find just the right words and manage to put them in just the right order.
A little weird, maybe, but it's the truth.
Computers are another passion of mine. Although young at the time, I've had a computer pretty much since they've been available (personal computers, not the ones that filled up a whole room—I’m not that old!). Before long I was using modems, networks, and then the web, learning, stumbling, but enjoying every minute of it.
These two passions have long since converged, and now I'm using my computers to write words that sit on other computers. Granted, not everyone's idea of a good time, but I love it.
My passion now, is to help people with their communication, and specifically, their online communication.
My philosophy is that online communication, whether it is through your web site, blog post, email, status update or tweet, should be clear, and that the experience your clients have with your online presence is one that is simple, quick, and intuitive.
Not only because that's the way it should be, but because it's good for business, and therefore, good for the bottom line.
How do I do that?
I do that by crafting compelling content. I make sure that your content is properly optimized for search engines, and properly optimized for social media engagement. I will admit to some bias, since I am a writer, but words matter.
They matter a lot.
In my opinion, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), content, usability, and social media, shouldn't be looked at in isolation because they don't exist in isolation. I believe your content needs to be crafted in this big-picture view.
Your content needs to be great, yes, but it also needs to be found, and it needs to be shared. When your content is crafted with this view in mind from the very beginning, it stands a better chance of meeting all of these objectives. That's what I do, and that's how I do it.
So who am I anyway?
Well, my name is James David Wright, but you can call me Jim!
You now know about my love for words and computers, and yet, in this age of computers, tablets, and e-book readers, I still love a good ol' fashioned book.
When I write, as I'm doing right now, there is a good chance that the notes that this very document emerged from were written on paper with a fountain pen (the only way to write), or with a trusty 2B pencil.
Other than playing with words and computers, I have spent most of my life as a musician, and teacher, and I still teach electronics at the college level. I love teaching, another passion of mine, because it also requires great communication skills, and keeps those same skills sharp by requiring me to almost daily take technical information and make it make sense. I can do that for you too!
What else?
I have walked on the Great Wall of China, crash landed an airplane, played drums in a rock band, played chess against Boris Spassky, sailed on the ocean, and love Nintendo games!
When I'm not doing all of that, I'm busy being a friend, husband, and father to two of the cutest kids you've ever seen!
I bring this passion and experience to my work every day. It has served me well, and I hope it will continue to do so.
If there is anything else you'd like to know, please ask me here.
Best Regards,
Jim.
